Manna Pro Corporation and Farm & Home Supply Team Up to Donate Calf-Manna


Bethalto, Illinois – Human multiple births have been getting a lot of media attention lately, but in Bethalto, it’s the trio of Black Angus heifers that are hogging all the attention. The calves were born February 25 to Tom Holbert, who says the triplet birth came as a complete surprise to him and his grandmother, who was first to discover the multiple birth. The calves and their mother are now benefitting from a 1,000-pound donation of Calf-Manna by the product’s manufacturer, Chesterfield, MO-based Manna Pro Products, LLC, and Farm & Home Supply Co, whose newest store opens in Alton, Illinois, this month. more

Partnership Donates Nearly $500,000 to Local FFA Chapters

NEW YORK (March 27, 2009) - Through a collaboration of 830 veterinarians, animal health suppliers and Pfizer Animal Health, nearly $500,000 has been donated to local FFA chapters across the country. Through purchases of Pfizer Animal Health’s vaccines, veterinarians and animal health suppliers were able to donate to a local FFA chapter of their choice. more

New Data Finds Parasite Control Critical to Cattle Profitability

Parasite control remains most important pharmaceutical technology DULUTH, Ga. — March 9, 2009 — Researchers at Iowa State University concluded that of all the pharmaceutical technologies examined, parasite control in cow herds had the greatest effect on breakeven prices — providing a value of $201 per head.1 This represents a 21 percent increase from similar data reported in 2007.1 “The original data was based on feed and cattle prices prior to the recent increase in these areas,” says Dr. John Lawrence, professor, economics department, Iowa State University. “Now, the question is, does the increase in feed and input costs make a difference in the effect of efficiency-gaining technologies? The answer is yes.” more
