More than 12,500 cows in 129 herds now are part of the voluntary Limousin Inventory Management System (LIMS). Sixteen herds joined the North American Limousin Foundation’s (NALF’s) whole-herd reporting program in fiscal year (FY) 2007–2008, adding about 925 head.

Beginning with their 2006 calf crops, active NALF members have had the option of conducting business using the Web-based LIMS. Participants pay an annual, per cow fee that entitles them to record, register and transfer the cow’s calf for that year. more

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The American Hereford Association (AHA) and Hereford World (HW) are excited to announce Levi Landers, Ord, Neb., has joined the Hereford team. Landers will join the AHA/HW staff in October as the North Central region field representative.

In this position, Landers will attend Hereford sales and events as well as assist breeders with marketing and genetic selection. He will also assist in educating members and commercial producers about AHA programs and other beef industry opportunities. more

The data-collection phase of Visions Quest (VQ) Round 3, the North American Limousin Foundation’s (NALF’s) cattle-feeding and carcass-discovery project with Colorado State University (CSU), concluded July 23 at the JBS Swift and Co. packing plant in Greeley, Colo. With data analysis continuing, the final chapter of the three-year VQ endeavor promises to provide critical lessons for the breed’s long-term success in providing the most profitable genetics and crossbreeding solutions for commercial cattle producers. more
