Study Shows Preconditioned Calves Earn Record Premiums

NEW YORK (July 22, 2009) – A study of prices received on calves sold through seven video auction sales in 2008 reveals that cattle producers received the highest premiums since 1995 on VAC45 and VAC PreCon calves, and the second highest premium on VAC34 calves. Fourteen years of Pfizer Animal Health price data shows an increasing value for preconditioned calves. more

Red Angus Feeder Calf tag sales hit record month

National Gelbvieh Junior Show Sets Record

There was plenty of Gelbvieh pride at the American Gelbvieh Junior Association (AGJA) 2009 Pride of the Heartland Classic held July 6-11 in Des Moines, Iowa. The annual AGJA national show shattered a 28-year record with 317 animals exhibited. The previous record of 274 animals was set in 2000 at the AGJA Hillbilly Classic in Springfield, Mo. more

Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarships Awarded at Cattle Industry Summer Conference

DENVER (July 17, 2009) - The National Cattlemen’s Foundation and Fort Dodge Animal Health recognize the importance of and demand for bovine veterinarians and production agriculture professionals. Today, five students were recognized for their commitment to the beef industry. Three doctorate of veterinary medicine and two animal science undergraduate students each received a scholarship in the amount of $5,000 as part of the Fort Dodge Animal Health Legacy Scholarship program. The five recipients were selected from a pool of qualified candidates from 29 different universities across the United States. more
