Limi Boosters Name Scholars

Megan Greenawalt, Lynchburg, Ohio, and Michael Mitchell, Mangum, Okla., received $750 scholarships from the Limi Boosters at the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress (NJLSC) awards banquet July 18 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Spencer Hall, Sonora, Texas, and Nathan Sloan, Fouke, Ark., received the organization’s educational grants.

Greenawalt, 18, joined both the Ohio Junior Limousin Association and National Junior Limousin Association (NALJA) in 1999. This fall, she will enroll at Wilmington College in Ohio. She intends to major in agriculture, with a concentration in animal science. After graduation, she plans to attend a veterinary medical school.

Mitchell, 18, has been a NALJA member for nine years and a member of the Oklahoma Junior Limousin Association for 11 years. He will begin studies in biochemistry and molecular biology at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater this fall. He intends to continue on to medical school and become a neurologist.

Hall, 19, joined NALJA and the Texas Junior Limousin Association last year. He plans to earn an associate’s degree in communications at Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas. His career goal is in farm broadcasting.

Sloan, 18, joined both the Arkansas Junior Limousin Breeders Association and NALJA in 2006. He plans to study agricultural education at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. After graduation, he hopes to teach agriculture and maintain a Limousin herd.

The Limi Boosters is the auxiliary organization to the North American Limousin Foundation (NALF). It supports and promotes NALJA and helps promote the Limousin breed. In addition to educational scholarships and grants, the group awards funds to state junior Limousin associations for their field days.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services – including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires – to more than 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex® hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
