Stotz, Hamilton Cow-Calf Pairs Win Hereford Expo

KANSAS CITY, Mo. ­­­— Miranda and Keysto Stotz, Skiatook, Okla., and Hunter Hamilton, Heltonville, Ind., won top honors in the cow-calf show during the ninth annual Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) in Kansas City, on July 17.


Jirl Buck, Madill, Okla., sorted 38 pairs to determine Stotz as the overall winner. The overall grand and bred-and-owned champion cow-calf pair, STAR MKS 122L Onica 18S ET, is a January 2006 daughter by Remitall Online 122L with a January heifer calf by STAR Battle Ground 2013 at her side. STAR MKS 122L Onica 18S ET also won the bred-and-owned pair division and showed with expected progeny differences (EPDs) of birth weight (BW) 2.7; weaning weight (WW) 50; yearling weight (YW) 84; maternal milk (MM) 22; and milk and growth (M&G) 47.


The reserve grand champion and grand champion standard cow-calf pair went to Hunter Hamilton with WCC Hope S304, a March 2006 cow by UPS Odyssey, and her February bull calf sired by WCC Slam Dunk R26 ET. WCC Hope S304 EPDs read BW 4.5; WW 50; YW 78; MM 14 and M&G 39.


Reserve standard cow-calf pair went to Kimber Evans, Fall River, Kan., with DM BR Lindsey 6051 ET by BR DM Channing ET and her March bull calf by SHF Radar M326 R125. The cow showed with EPDs of BW 4.2; WW 50; YW 62; MM 21 and M&G 46.


Brooke Brumley, Orovada, Nev., took home the reserve champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair title with BF Pure Poison 610S ET, a February 2006 cow by C-S Pure Gold 98170, and her February bull calf by BF 2153 Bum 534R. The cow showed with EPDs of BW 4.3; WW 53; YW 85; MM 29 and M&G 55.
