‘Trail to Excellence’ Leads to National Junior Limousin Show

About 200 North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA) members and their families will bring about 500 head of cattle to Sioux Falls, S.D., July 13–18, for the “Trail to Excellence” National Junior Limousin Show and Congress (NJLSC). The South Dakota and Minnesota Limousin associations will host the weeklong, family-oriented event, which will include membership meetings, social activities, cattle shows, showmanship competitions and a variety of satellite educational events.

Todd Herman of Skiatook, Okla., will judge the owned-female show. Evaluating the steer, bred-and-owned and Lim-Flex® shows will be Troy Thomas of Harrold, S.D. Chris and Kristi Effling, Highmore, S.D., will judge the showmanship competitions.

Entries are due to the North American Limousin Foundation (NALF) by May 15. For more information, call NALF at (303) 220-1693. Or visit its Internet home page (www.nalf.org), click the “Juniors” link on the left, and open the summer 2008 NALJA News.

NALJA and its NJLSC aim to develop knowledgeable, motivated beef industry leaders while promoting the Limousin breed through fellowship, leadership and education.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services – including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires – to more than 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex® hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
