This is My Last Post
Don’t worry, this isn’t my LAST post with BEEF Daily! No, this is just my LAST post as a college student, and I want to make it count. Soon, I will be in the “real world,” and I’m not quite sure what that will feel like. Will my work as a blogger and speaker help me continue my passions in beef production? Can I smoothly transition into work with my grandparents and parents in a multi-generational cattle operation? Can I continue to find new topics to discuss on this daily blog? Will I be able to effectively address the issues of individuals within the cattle industry? What does it feel like to pay school loans, car payments and bills? I get nervous just thinking about it! However, I’m sure all of you will be able to offer me good advice in my transition.
In my FINAL post as a college student and kid, I thought I would look back over my senior year in college and highlight a few of the most visited and highly controversial blog posts during this first year of the BEEF Daily blog. Relive the memories with me, and feel free to add in your opinions along the way! Oh, and be sure to tune in next week for the first of many BEEF Daily summer contest giveaways! It’s going to be a fun summer!

Amanda,
Thanks for being a recognized spokesperson for Iowa agriculture. We just saw your article in one of our favorite farm magazines. Our son has just finished his first year at Iowa State. I have enjoyed your blog and congratulate you on your graduation!

Good luck Amanda, it has been a joy to follow your blog. Best wishes as you transition into back to the farm, and keep up the good work!

You cannot go where your mind hasn’t led. Best of luck to you and keep everyone “beefed up on beef”. I remember my graduation card that I received in 1962: You’ve been a liability all of your life, now go and make an asset of yourself! I would venture to say that I have qualified some works both directions in the duplicity of the latter phrase. Ha!

Amanda — I’d have to say that my favorite post from your first year was the Cheers to Rachel Ray. Sometimes I think we need to focus less on the handful of vegan activists (vegetarians make up less than 4% of the U.S. population) and spend more time celebrating the overwhelming majority who love beef, as you did in highlighting Rachel Ray. Consumers tell us they love beef, they just need “permission” to enjoy the beef they love. They need to know that beef is produced by people who care for the land and animals and are capable of providing great care for both. Keep up the good work in helping deliver that message!

Amanda,
Congratulations on your graduation. Its nice to know there are people our age standing up for Ag across America. We need to keep up the good fight and find a way to unite our efforts; so we will be able to say how we are going to farm…not have Uncle Sam tell us what we are going to do. Thanks for being our public voice. I’ve just finished my 4th exam in three days and am leaving the city for Home Sweet Home in the country. If you are ever in the southeast, I would love to have you speak at something.
Again, keep up the good work, and take in this day. Graduation is an amazing whirlwind, and then life kicks in. Trust me…I’m working on my DVM and there’s nothing like your time in undergrad.

Best Wishes to you - I have enjoyed your columns! I believe there are many more items that can be discussed in your articles. Here in Ohio as we prepare to fight HSUS, I look forward to any information that is posted. People need to know our story. I have lost more sleep over animals then I have over my children.
