Count ‘Em…1,2 and 3!
Got a case of the Mondays? Well, these photos will add an interesting spin to your Monday morning. Count ‘em…1, 2 and 3 bull calves born to the same dam. Can you believe it? I blinked three times to make sure I was seeing it right. Has this ever happened to you? Wow!
Managing Editor Alaina Burt forwarded these photos to me from her fellow Red Angus producers and friends, Dennis and Jo Ann of Ory’s Circle 7 Red Angus, Rocky Comfort, MO. Peaches is the proud mama of three bull calves named, Joe, Jake and Jesi. I think the Ory family will have their hands full with these three!
I’m certain you have some amazing events that happen on your own, respective farms? If you have caught those events on film, why not send some of those photos my way? Email me at beefnews@hotmail.com with your favorites, and they may just make the BEEF Daily Blog!

Yep, sure did. Don’t recall if they were all bulls, but there were sure enough tripletts.

Incredible! We rarely even have twins, much less TRIPLETS! Did you have a big bottle calf project that year? Thanks for your comment, Kent!

I recently received this comment about this blog post via email, and with permission to post it publicly, I thought I would share it with all of you.
Amanda:
I am very impressed with your activities in FFA and in the media. Keep up the good work.
I am an Animal Science/Ag Ed grad of Purdue and taught Vo-Ag for a number of years. I always cringe when I see a story like yours on the Red Angus triplets where the animals are given “cute” human names.
I think that a cow giving birth to triplets is a good general interest story. Maybe even something could be said about the extra work involved and the economics of multiple births. Isn’t giving the calves cute names, however, playing into the animal rights people’s hands?
I’ve raise cattle all of my life and am the forth generation of my family to do so. I love when the calves are born. I thoroughly enjoy working with cattle. Because I truly believe that the animal rights movement is the biggest threat to our livestock industry, I am fairly sensitive to things like this…. or maybe it’s just because I am such and old guy.
I would appreciate it if you would give this some thought. From what I’ve read about you, you’ll do the best thing. I am genuinely encouraged that there are young people like you out there to continue this great industry.
